Meet the Sonderling Center Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2023!
Valerie Henriquez is the Class of 2023 Valedictorian for the Sonderling Center with a grade-point average of 104.6. Her younger (by five minutes) but taller (by one inch) twin sister Ericka Henriquez is this year's Salutatorian with a grade-point average of 103.6.
They say that the only thing that matters to them is the fact that they are both going to be recognized and play a significant role as graduates from Brentwood High School this coming June. Valerie's lead in grade-point average comes due to a social work honors class that "did not fit" into Ericka's schedule.
The twin sisters are daughters to immigrants from El Salvador, whose father and mother came to the United States at the ages of 12 and 20, respectively. They joined a proud community of Salvadorean immigrants that embraced their cultural heritage from the onset.
