BHS 9-11 Memorial Ceremony

On Monday, September 12th, Brentwood HS had their annual 9-11 Memorial Ceremony. The ceremony was held in the courtyard of the Ross Center where the two steel beams recovered from the 37th floor of the 2nd World Trade Tower at ground zero are on display. Speaker and NY773 AFJROTC Key Staff Group Commander, Cadet Major Cristian Pineda-Delgado, shared the beams origins which were brought to Brentwood HS on September 18th, 2002. These and many other steel artifacts now grace 9-11 memorials in cities, towns, fire houses and museums around the United States and the world to ensure that we will never forget.

The dedication ceremony included a demonstration from the NY773 AFJROTC Color Guard (Cadet 1st Lieutenant Lineth Arias, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Paula Tomaylla, Cadet TSgt Sgt Alisha Arshad, and Cadet SrA Saul Pierre-Louis), and Green Machine Trumpet player, Erik Figueroa, performing the National Anthem. NY773 AFJROTC Key Staff members Cadet Captain Diana Acevedo and Cadet Captain Hailey Ramos placed flower wreath on the beams as Cadet Captain Yennifer Alvarado ring the ceremonial bell three times to pay respect to each location: The Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the field in Shanksville Pennsylvania that we lost precious lives.

The key staff and the cadets of NY-773 thank you all faculty, staff, students, and board members that attending for their support. Thank you to SMSgt. Wayne Hanna and Dr. Chief Taylor for speaking during this event. Special thank you to Eva and Kenny (a  BHS Alumni) from Flower Cottage of Brentwood who donate the flower wreath for the ceremony.
